Topic > The Importance of Narcissism in Psychology - 1436

Pursuing a Ph.D. In clinical psychology at Penn State, I want to continue investigating the assessment of adolescent personality and relationships, as well as understanding family and peer influences on problem behavior. Specifically, my goal will be to investigate whether family and peer conflicts/dynamics may be associated with children's and adolescents' personality (e.g., pathological and non-pathological narcissism; self-esteem) and susceptibility to negative influence/pressure. of peers or peer victimization. also examining services that could mitigate such issues. Additionally, I would be interested in examining peer relationships as they relate to emotional, social, and identity development and how such information might inform interventions such as peer social skills training. Based on my potential research interests, I aspire to work with Dr. Aaron L. Pincus for his work examining and validating pathological narcissism (i.e., grandiose and vulnerable narcissism) and its interpersonal implications.
