Introduction: In 1946 two members of the New York Giants were found in association with gamblers, attempting to fix the NFL championship game. These members were suspended, and in 1947 the NFL introduced their own form of prevention, injury reporting (Merritt). Each week NFL coaches must list their injured players on the NFL Injury Report. Each player must be listed as "doubtful", "questionable" or "probable" to play that weekend. What many people don't know is that a large number of teams lie about these reports. Distorting the truth about their players' injuries gives that team an advantage. Whether coaches place healthy players on the list, injured players not on the list, or simply lie about the severity of the injury, it affects teams and fans. I addressed the problems with the NFL injury report and focused my research on the integrity of teams and their purpose in lying, how many lies are actually happening, and the connection between the injury report, the NFL, and the NFL game.
