You need to know what animal cruelty is before you can fight it emotionally. Every day in the United States, animals are beaten, neglected, or forced to fight for survival. (LearningToLive.org 1) We must stand together to help these animals and punish their heartless owners (LearningToLive.org 1). We must speak for them, if now who? (LearningToLive.org 1). According to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) cruelty to animals is defined as “Acts of violence or neglect perpetrated against animals are considered cruelty to animals”, according to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA). (aldf.org 1). There are two categories they classify animal cruelty into: passive and overt (active) (LearningToGive.org 1). Passivity is described as an act of negligence or lack of action (LearningToGive.org 1), such as not feeding or forgetting to feed your pet, not providing it with substantial housing in inclement weather, or failing to provide it with adequate veterinary care when it is ill ( LearningToGive.org 1). Overt (active) means to intentionally cause harm, injury, or death to the animal. This includes burning animals, throwing them off a roof, or fighting them (LearningToGive.org 1). Active transportation leads to other similar crimes. Rape and child molestation have the same underlying reasons as overt animal abuse: power (LearningToGive.org 1). Examples of other crimes would be the Carroll Edward Cole case or the Columbine shooting (LearningToGive.org 1). While both intentional abuse and neglect can occur at the hands of an individual, they can occur at the hands of an individual, institutions, or larger corporations that involve animals and are often perpetrators of animal cruelty as well (aldf.org 1). Ca...... half of the paper ......their vehicle, but when they looked for the leak, they couldn't find a hole in the pipe where it could have come from, just as it had around the same time( Michael Brazil 2009). He tried to contact the police and animal control, but at that point there was not enough evidence to prove that anything had been done nor to prove where the antifreeze had come from (Michael Brazil 2009). When he told me this story, he also said that he was walking the attacker's dog. How can someone be so heartless, especially if they are a pet owner themselves? It's beyond me. In conclusion, to make animal cruelty a more well-known problem, society should spread the word about who to contact if you suspect animal cruelty or if there is suspicion of animal cruelty. Everyone knows that in case of a human emergency it is necessary to call emergency services. There must also be a toll-free number for animal emergencies.
