Raising the minimum wage seems like a great proposition for the middle and lower classes, more money! Why not? Because people lose their jobs. According to research conducted by Jared Bernstein, a valid argument presented by those who do not want a minimum wage increase is that approximately 500,000 workers would lose their jobs. In reality, that's about 0.3% of total U.S. employment, which amounts to about 500,000 out of 16.5 million people who would lose their jobs. On the other hand, it states that “An estimated 16.5 million low-wage workers would directly benefit from the proposed increase to $10.10 by the second half of 2016.” It also states that 900,000 people in the United States would be raised above the poverty line. line; this can benefit the United States both internally and externally. Internally people will be more satisfied with their wages and how the economy works, and externally the United States will have 900,000 fewer people in poverty, which will make our country look better as a country
