No matter what state you live in, schools pretty much everywhere have a uniform or dress code policy. In recent years, the percentage of schools requiring uniform has increased by nearly 10 percent, bringing the total of public and private schools with a uniform policy to about 23 percent. But the real question is: how many schools actually apply it? What do students and parents think? At Joy Christian School the dress code has changed dramatically over the past year, becoming more lenient with each passing year due to students refusing to follow it. Most students and parents believe this is because it is not implemented correctly. Teachers hardly pay attention because going around and checking on every person interrupts class time, and with only one person enforcing it, the Dean of Students, makes it difficult for everyone to be punished fairly and equitably. The biggest problem is that some kids consistently get away with it while other students make mistakes once they are noticed immediately.
