It can have a domino effect that leads to things happening today. A major event that occurred during the 18th century was the French Revolution. The French Revolution was a series of events that would lead to the next one. It started with bread riots and eventually led to the death of the king and queen. An event that occurred during the French Revolution was called the Reign of Terror. This was the time when Maximilien Robespierre and a few other members of the Committee of Public Safety took command of France during the revolution. This time it was called “The Reign of Terror” because they used terror to control people. Using terror in a government system will lead to many terrible things. The Reign of Terror had a great impact on Western civilization, especially on France, because it was a time of equal rights, there was no absolute monarchy and led to the decision of a better government. The Reign of Terror was definitely one of the most important events that happened in the history of France because it established equality, got rid of the monarchy and gave Napoleon the perfect time to come to power.
