Most people have been taught that Congo is located in Asia, near China or Bangladesh. I realized that they don't study global geography like we do in Congo. The only countries they know are South Africa because of the late President Mandela and Kenya because of the Maasai and safaris. One day when I started school, since I was the only foreigner in class, my classmate asked me “Ruth, how did you get to Korean? Did you swim? Others taught that I was traveling with my ID. This really amazed me. There were adults and children asking you why are you black? They taught that in Africa we start with the animals. A friend asked: “Do you have your own lion? I was in total shock and it hurt my feelings extremely. I finally stick to Korean culture. Mrs. Park was comforted; he told me one evening “to integrate you have to admit a certain reality. Things cannot be the same as in your home country, which is why it is called foreign.” Since then it has been an obligation for me, because I wanted to change my life.
