Jean Piaget's theory of cognitive development suggests that the combination of nature and nurture attributes to a person's development. Specifically, during childhood the foundation of cognition is the result of biological capacities, such as action-based knowledge of learned behaviors. Piaget suggested that learning is a biological function that results from the actions of the individual and how it is learned is the result of genetic epistemology.
