A person who takes responsibility takes on enormous responsibilities. Taking responsibility means stepping outside the confines of the ordinary. Nat Turner could certainly be considered a hero of his time and he certainly took up what he believed in to make change. When people think of heroes, they normally assume that the person has superpowers and does “inhuman” things. People immediately relate heroes to cartoons and movies. A hero is simply someone who makes sacrifices to help others and is highly respected, a world changer. There are different types of heroes all over the world. A hero is Nat Turner. Nat Turner is a strong and very independent person who fought for what he believed in: changing the world in favor of slaves and African Americans. According to (source Google) Turner was born into slavery on October 2, 1800, in the town of Southampton, Virginia. Tuner was not a normal slave, the one he was able to learn. It is said that approximately 100-200 African Americans were killed after the rebellion. (package) Not long after, on October 30, 1831, Tuner was captured. (google) Turner was allowed to go to court and have a trial, which ended on November 11, 1831. He pleaded not guilty because he believed he had been called by God. (google) Turner was found guilty and was hanged, and the same happened to those involved. (package) Although Turner's rebellion seemed to have failed at the time, over time he was considered a hero to African Americans because he created change. Soon after the rebellion the slave laws became harsh. (google) But as the laws became harsh, abolitionists became more motivated. The tuner became an important part of history and people appreciated everything it did. He was a villain for the white man and a hero for the blacks because they had finally found someone who defended their rights even if they did it in a bloody way.
