Child labor is considered a form of child abuse, being the exploitation of the rights and freedoms of the child. We therefore speak of child labor when minors are employed, this happens because a minor worker is paid less than an adult worker. As a result, employers have more children work for them because they spend less to pay them. and/or spiritual growth.”1 Child labor is not something that has evolved only recently. As a matter of fact, child labor dates back to the 1880s and 1840s, when child labor was prevalent throughout the world. In 1788, it was estimated that 60% of the workforce of English and Scottish text factories were children because children could be easily exploited. As the world continued to develop, there was a demand for an educated workforce, and that was when the financial rift between people began. Despite attempts to eradicate child labor, for a time all these attempts proved futile. In 1893, the Prevention of Cruelty and Better Protection of Children Act was enacted; this was under the leadership of Lady Ritchie, at that time wife of the Chief Justice. The act paved the way for the creation of many children's aid societies, including Peterborough, Toronto and Ottawa-Carleton, which were the first three children's aid societies.1 News, CBC. “CBC In-Depth News: Child Labor.” CBC.ca - Canadian News Sports Entertainment Kids Docs Radio TV.
