Through the Civilian Oversight Model, the two different worlds have come together, some agreeing and some disagreeing with the involvement. We have the police who disagree and the public who agree with the possibility of being involved in the oversight of police misconduct. I believe the civilian oversight model is a great method developed because it allows civilians and officers to work side by side to overcome a situation. Although law enforcement is against the model, there are ways to ensure a better opinion of the model. Training of supervisory staff and volunteers can ensure that appropriate individuals are chosen to fill the position in the model. Oversight systems may require a department supervisor to attend hearings and be asked to answer questions about department policies (Finn). Overall, law enforcement and the public are moving toward better correlation with the civilian control model in place
