Entertainment captures the audience's attention and interest; gives pleasure and joy, allows people to forget any problems in their life. The entertainment is designed specifically for the purpose of maintaining the audience's attention. Long ago people started with: art, music, wall paintings and stories. Entertainment has been around too long to have the ability to ruin a concept like a society. Sometimes it can present itself as a necessity for life. People thrive on the happiness and laughter caused by a funny situation, and this entertainment satisfies that desire for people. Entertainment does not possess the ability to destroy society; For humanity to grow, relax and experience, individuals must be open to all forms of entertainment. Entertainment has prevailed since the beginning of human history. People were looking for ways to enjoy their free time. Reading has long been a source of entertainment. In early American times as well as today people entertained themselves by reading books, pamphlets and newspapers. They were not difficult to find and were full of in-depth information. In the 1700s Thomas Paine's pamphlet "Common Sense" was extremely popular. The pamphlet was one of the first widely distributed writings that the American people could come into contact with. At a time when colonists were still debating whether or not they wanted to fight for independence against the English, the pamphlet succeeded in convincing the American people why the fight for freedom was essential. Even 100 years ago, entertainment benefited society. Without the need for a source of entertainment where would we be as a people? After a period of time people...middle of paper...entertainment is not a "poison to society", it may have some setbacks, but entertainment is sought for pleasure and enjoyment. Forms of entertainment have existed since the origins of humanity. After the first humans had finished searching for food and shelter; in their free time they looked for ways to have fun. People use entertainment as a stress reliever and as a means to get away from real life. People can benefit from entertainment and learn new things. Entertainment does not have the ability to destroy society, people have that power. How people choose to entertain themselves is strictly their own making. People subject themselves to any entertainment, be it good or bad, knowing the consequences. The intent of entertainment is to help with learning, growth, new insights, and relaxation. Entertainment provides escape from the real world.
