Before all electronic devices were invented, people watched plays for entertainment. Theatrical performances were a common thing in those days, and that was where the drama came from. According to the Merriam-Webster Encyclopedia, the word “drama” comes from Greek and means to do, to act. This is why drama is usually conducted on stages and theaters. According to Meriiam-Webster, drama is defined as a serious story expressed in the form of dialogue and presented by actors on stages and television. Both fiction and drama have plots. They introduce the problem, build the climax and then resolve it. Compared to fiction, drama does not specifically describe character structures. Fiction helps readers imagine characters' perspectives. Drama is carried forward by dialogue and action, while fiction uses narration and description to drive the story. When reading fiction, readers respond primarily to their imagination. In drama, they only have to follow the actions performed by the actors on stage. The narrative is divided into chapters, the drama is divided into acts. Fiction tends to be enjoyed solitarily, people read it alone. The drama is performed in theaters for large audiences. As for drama, William Shakespeare is the father of it. He is famous for the drama of Elizabeth; many critics compliment his works. To better understand what drama is, Much Ado About Nothing, written by Shakespeare, is a good example. As a drama should be, the play questions morality and entertainment.
