In situations like this, Williams has had to use his skills to not only understand what those speaking to him are trying to say, but also who in the family may be ill. In Danse Pseudomacabre, Williams shows his ability to identify the culture from which each of an area's residents may come. He does this almost instantly in his mind as he carries out his duties as a doctor. This example also shows that Williams was very culturally savvy. In A Night In June, Williams visits an Italian-speaking family as a young doctor and fails in his attempt to deliver a baby. The story continues with him returning later to help safely deliver another baby to the same woman, who at the time (with the exception of one child) had delivered all of her children to Williams. The family spoke very little English, but Williams was somehow still able to understand what they were trying to say and give commands to family members to help him with the task.
