Human Rights“ The significant problem we have cannot be solved at the same level of thinking with which we created them” -Albert Einstein The problem of homelessness has been a major concern in around the world for centuries, homelessness was believed to have begun in the 1640s when Christians believed that if you were an excellent Christian God would naturally give you everything you needed to survive, but if you were a sinner you would become homeless (Congregation to end homelessness). Many of us can't bear the thought of not having a warm bed to sleep in and hygiene being our last concern. When we think of homelessness we imagine an elderly man with a gray beard and sunburned skin sleeping on a park bench, when in reality the homeless have no restrictions. Homelessness affects adolescents, blacks, whites, LBGT, mentally stable and unstable individuals and is affected. According to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, 564,708 people experienced a night of homelessness in 2015. So why don't homeless people use homeless shelters? No matter how clean a facility may be, there is still a high possibility of being exposed to airborne infections, such as lice, scabies, bed bugs, etc. (medscape). There is also the possibility of being attacked by individuals with mental problems or by people who have such high levels of stress that they feel they have nothing to lose (wikipedia). Also the schedules of many shelters are very strict regarding the times you can check in, surprisingly some homeless people are actually trying to get out of the system and… middle of paper…). It has been proven that if we could slowly start funding the restoration of affordable housing, we could finally end homelessness, or slow it down. Homelessness is a growing problem that no human being should ever have to endure, even if many people are skeptical about giving any help. of the ideas I've presented, but with the statistics I've provided, Housing First could be a step closer to ending homelessness. We are all achieving the American dream, we are all human beings and should never suffer from homelessness. This is why many of us must learn that these people are not a burden, we must fight for human rights and the right to have a home, the government must monitor weather or not, the resources it is funding have positive results . We must bring back caring for our neighbors, even if people judge you for doing what is right
