IntroductionWhen employing and designing a research experiment, it is imperative that researchers thoroughly understand the thesis statement presented. One technique for interpreting and understanding a research thesis statement is to analyze the thesis statement. In other words, it is important to classify the vocabulary or key concepts present in the thesis statement. It is also important to review past research conducted based on key concepts. Next, in examining the thesis statement, this mixed-method research design seeks to examine the extent to which social skills, self-management, and behavior modification strategies benefit middle school children in self-contained classrooms classified as Disordered Emotional Behavioral Disorders (EBD), the following key concepts were examined: social skills, self-management, behavior modification, strategies (in the classroom), self-contained classrooms and emotional behavioral disorders (EBD). Self-contained classrooms Apaydin and Seckin (2013) studied the following research questions: "1. What are the civil behaviors in the classroom according to teachers and students 2. What are the emotions of teachers and students towards these behaviors 3. What are the uncivilized behaviors in the classroom according to teachers and students. What are the emotions of teachers and students towards these behaviors” (p. 2394)? students are closely related to “educational themes” and “personal themes.” Students responded to teachers' civil actions with positive emotions, positive emotions toward the teacher, and positive emotions toward the curriculum presented a la carte… for positive growth, just as they would in real world situations Students must be taught social skills in areas where they lack appropriate behaviors. These social skills lessons may include the following: getting the teacher's attention, accepting decisions by authority, accepting criticism or consequences, choosing appropriate words to say, listening to others and expressing empathy and understanding, etc. All of these social skills topics are necessary to function effectively in society. While many research studies mentioned developed, well-thought-out strategies for students with EBD to use in the classroom, few presented ways to incorporate elements of self-management into students' long-term success. Education that revolves around behavior modification and social skills is truly what students classified as EBD need to increase success during their primary school years.
