In real life Aech is a young, overweight black lesbian named Helen. Helen's concealment of her true identity is based on an idea passed down from her mother. Helen's mom used a white male avatar to conduct business in the OASIS; he felt that having a white male avatar required more respect in business and society than a black female avatar. Following in her mother's footsteps, Helen also uses a white male avatar for school and play in the OASIS. Helen's preference to use a white male avatar demonstrates that the OASIS and video games in general can provide an escape from issues such as racism and sexism. Furthermore, video games also serve as a source of entertainment for all kinds of people. The purpose of creating video games was for them to be a source of entertainment for people. As time goes by, the gaming industry grows. Video games now have such diverse content that there is definitely a type of game that every person will find
