Kingsley, George (2004). Length of time needed to achieve adjustment in marriage. [electronic]. (American sociological journal). 666 – 667. In this article, George Kingsley describes various adjustment periods for different aspects of a marriage. The document examines areas such as finances, relationships with in-laws, religion, mutual friends and social activities. The study that was conducted provides information in a statistical manner. The results provide substantial information about the details of marital intimacy and break them down into useful tables. This study provides the perspectives of men and women and they all establish that marriage requires a lot of work and that nothing great comes easy. Many of the findings from this study will be used in my research paper to reinforce what makes a marriage great. In this study, one factor is evident; when we get married we believe it is forever. The question to ask is: if we thought the outcome would be divorce, why pursue this process in the first place? In this study we find that everyone has to adapt and that means making compromises to ensure success. The statistics and results of the study will be used in this research paper to illustrate the elements that ensure a successful marriage. (Kingsley 2004).Bernard, J. (2008). The future of marriage. New Haven: Yale University Press. J. Bernard discusses marriage in twenty years' time in this book and compares it to the present day. It provides factual information about the rising divorce rate and the events that lead to these results. So by looking at the right information, guidance and techniques, the future could ultimately be much better. Provide techniques to ensure the correct way to communicate effectively and how ... middle of paper ......and divorce courts. Sometimes having some help on what to watch out for, gives some hope that marriage can be so much fun and one of life's greatest experiences. According to Triplett, people believe that one of the most important things to worry about is the so-called seven-year itch. The reality of the matter is that the first year is so important because dissatisfaction occurs so early in the marriage. Especially when we have high expectations for our partners. This source is a valuable resource for my research paper; helps outline what the document will be about. So much information from this resource gives me a moral look at what marriage is (Triplett). Topic of my research Basically research on why marriages fail or not and what makes a marriage great. What ingredients are vital to the success of a marriage?
