317 out of 1000, 32% felt homesick, while 75% suffered from any type of stress. One student said: “I didn't deal with homesickness particularly well and ended up wasting much of my first year being unhappy, rather than taking advantage of the many opportunities university offered me.” (Sanzagiri) They also found that most of the students affected by the problem are mostly in their first year of university, which is very logical, since only then are they not completely accustomed to their new lifestyle usually alone, and according to the Southern Polytechnic State University Counseling Center it is mainly due to culture shock. Culture shock is an incident that happens to international students when they arrive in a different country subject to major changes. They then take part in a difficult journey punctuated by four phases: Honeymoon, where the student arrives, there is nothing wrong with life and everything is surprisingly amazing, things start to seem strange, it seems different to be much more difficult than in the past, then the negotiation phase where they start to feel better and learn to deal with their problems and integrate into society and finally the acceptance phase, where they are fully integrated and where life matters are not tied to homesickness . I had the chance to meet a fellow student of mine, he comes from the same town as me but he arrived months before me. He explained his experience and transition from both countries. I needed to know what the factors led to this and how he dealt with the situation
