The Internet as an Educational ToolAccording to Bookshelf 98, Reference Library, technology is defined as "the application of science, especially to industrial or commercial objectives." It also defines technology as “the scientific method and material used to achieve a commercial or industrial objective.” What does all this mean for me? All these words like scientific method, commercial and industrial objective don't seem to have meaning in my life. I have always treated technologies as something foreign that really has no relationship with me. Until a couple of years ago I didn't even know how to get on the Internet. Yes, I heard people brag about how wonderful the Internet was. However, I didn't know the amount of information you can get through the Internet. I couldn't imagine. All I saw was a TV-sized machine. I actually started surfing the internet out of frustration. Whenever I asked questions about how to get certain information, most people advised me to go to the Internet to get the information. So I started using the Internet. Oh! Have I missed the luxury of using the Internet all these times? Since then I have been using the Internet to do my homework or study. I found that using the Internet saved me time in getting the information I needed. Plus, it gives me the information I was looking for with minimal failure. I now rely heavily on the internet for resources and information. What do I do when people ask me questions? I tell them to go to the Internet. The Internet has also changed my lifestyle; Now I rarely write to my friends, instead I send them emails, I don't go to the store to shop but buy things via the Internet. The internet covers virtually every category related to our daily lives such as news, media, health, government and much more. Now, the Internet is the first place I look for any information, whether it's directions to places or making a hotel reservation. Even though I use the Internet as an information search tool and use it as often as I need it, there are still many areas that I have not been exposed to. One of the sectors is education. As someone who wants to pursue a career goal of becoming a teacher, I thought it would be helpful to research education-related websites.
