Stand above others“Give a girl the right shoes and she can conquer the world.” - Marilyn Monroe.Women wearing high-heeled shoes can be traced back to the 1600s, when women began dressing like men to achieve a sense of equality. Today, heels are seen as an elegant and refined form of everyday fashion. Why save your heels for after 5? The stiletto should be a requirement for women who want to succeed in the workplace. It adds to your posture, your confidence, and the level of respect you receive from others. High-heeled shoes date back to the Persian horse soldiers of the 9th century. Their shoes had an elongated heel, so that the feet did not slip out of the stirrups. European aristocrats found a fondness for this style and the heeled shoe became a symbol of wealth. Being short in stature has never been a positive factor for a man's confidence. King Louis XIV of France even wore four-inch red heels, to boost his ego. In the 16th century, when women began to dress and behave like men, they began to wear heels. Elizabeth Semmelhack, author of Heights of Fashion, a History of the Elevated Shoe, wrote: “There were women who cut their hair, adding shoulder pads to their dresses. They smoked pipes, wore very masculine hats. And that's why women adopted heels: it was in an attempt to masculinize their clothes” (78). When women started wearing high-heeled shoes, the trend became popular among the lower classes. Men abandoned the heel and in the 18th century it became exclusively a female accessory. Since the 19th century, high heels have steadily entered and exited fashion trends. The 20th century gave heels a reputation for “sexualizing” a woman. The 90s brought a new medium…paper medium…a puritan. A woman who wakes up early to put a little more effort into her appearance will put much more effort into her work. An intelligent woman understands what it takes to succeed in today's society. She understands that she will automatically be judged based on the wrinkles in her shirt and the color of her shoes. She knows that by wearing heels in the office she will be more respected by her boss and colleagues. The shoes we wear on our feet distinguish us from others. A classy (not frumpy) stiletto has the power to elevate a woman not only in height, but also in standing among her peers. There is no question whether they should be acceptable in the workplace or not: they should be mandatory. The professional dress extends from head to toe. A woman in high heels will be more successful, earn more money and be revered as a woman with confidence and respect.
