Introduction Longitudinal research was conducted comparing the rate of violence in male and female prisons. It is important to do research on this topic because it not only leads to the conclusion of where violence prevails but also focuses on other aspects. It focuses on the psychological, social and sexual side of the prisoner. This argument doesn't just focus on who has the highest rates of violence, but why that sex has a higher rate. This topic delves into the differences between male and female inmates and what causes them to have high rates of violence. Most people would say that men's prisons have a higher rate of violence for biological reasons. People tend to think that males are more aggressive, so violence is prevalent in men's prisons, but there is much more to this idea. The goal of this article is to inform whether rates of violence are higher in men's or women's prisons and why this is the case. Various key factors have been addressed in relation to this topic. These four factors would not only help answer the research questions, but would open up opportunities to conduct similar research. This research paper will explore whether violence is higher in men's or women's prisons and why it is high. To answer these two research questions, the following factors will be discussed: relationship violence in women's prisons, a comparison between the experiences of sexual coercion reported by men and women in prison, comparisons between prisoners and the search for respect, victimization rates. Theoretical Framework The most important factor regarding the topic of violence rates in men's and women's prisons is relationship violence in women's prisons. This factor is ver... at the center of the card...ul and relevant. Each individual study contributed to finding an answer to the research question. Have studies shown the factors why? As? and when? prisoners (male and female) engage in violence and how this increases rates of violence. While all of this data has been very helpful, more research should be performed. There should be more studies focusing on female prisoners in order to provide a better understanding of women's prisons. Additionally, studies using women as part of the study should increase the sample size. The authors usually examine a large male sample size and only a small female sample size. This leaves people wondering why there is a huge difference between the sample sizes. In conclusion, if experimenters focused on females as they do with males, perhaps more data could be presented.
