This has truly been a strength in my work as a resident assistant. I am responsible for helping 52 first-year students gain a broader perspective of the world we live in. Like me, many of my students came to college with helicopter parents and conservative beliefs. When I started the semester, I was concerned about responding to some of the comments I had heard coming from my residents; however, I knew it needed to be addressed through intentional conversations, message boards, and programming. If I didn't have people willing to accept me and meet me where I was personally at, my worldview would still be very good
