The women in our family have been stay-at-home housewives. Even during times of economic crisis, women remained at home with their children. We have been the traditional nuclear family (Coontz, 1997). The marriages I know of were out of love and affection, not out of necessity or agreement. We had a lot of men who were in the military and were saving to be able to buy their own homes. There were very few divorces and teenage pregnancies. Nobody and nothing was perfect. While joking about TV shows, about not having a perfectly clean house, or about a wife who wasn't a good cook. We love each other and do not expect anyone to fill a role described as perfect (Coontz,
