Personal development will always be at the heart of lifelong learning in college, which will promote character building within oneself, meeting new people, and maturity . In “Learning of Freedom,” in which Michael Roth analyzes his ideas on education, he states that “the highest purpose of higher education is to give all citizens the opportunity to find “great and human meaning.” in their lives and work” (Roth 3) . Roth is not only looking for the higher purpose of education, but also the point at which it really makes a difference in a person's life and I really agree with him. It is the place where people want to create themselves and acquire new concepts of knowledge that they can apply in the real world and not simply be labeled as “human capital” (Roth 2). With the help of college I personally slowly learned to develop my reasoning and judgments, growing me as a person to clearly express my thoughts and ideas and improve my human meaning. University education enhances personal development on so many levels to experience meeting new people and socializing to strengthen students' communication skills and be rich in intellectual culture.
