The agency I chose to do is Hillandale Golf Course, which is located in Durham, North Carolina. The reason I chose to do my project on the Hillandale golf course is because since the beginning of the semester I have been going to the golf course twice a week for a lesson where I learn the rules and how to play golf . Hillandale Golf Course is called "Durham's Grandfather Golf Course/Research Triangle golf course". Hillandale was gifted to the Durham area in 1911 through the philanthropic interests of longtime Durham resident John Sprunt Hill. Donald Ross and Perry Maxwell originally designed the course. Donald Ross designed the first 9 holes and Perry Maxwell designed the last 9 holes. Over 1.7 million rounds of golf have been played since 1960, averaging 45,000 per year. This public golf course offers a challenge for players of all levels of golf. In 1960, the Hillandale Golf Course was moved to its current location in Durham and was redesigned by George Cobb, who is also the designer of the Surf Club in Myrtle Beach, SC. ​​The golf course's mission statement is "To maintain and operate the Hillandale Golf Course as a public recreational facility, open to all residents of the area." They have an area in the shop that allows the public to come in and watch the golf or just relax in the lounge area. They also have some golf related games inside for the younger crowd they attract. I also admire the way the club tries to make everyone in the community happy by offering free lessons on special occasions.
