This course, in general, builds opinions on psychological issues such as sexuality, the relationship between motherhood, ethnicity, race, class, women in the workplace, and women's roles. This course embarks on a variety of theoretical perspectives and concepts for everyday research practices on women. Furthermore, it focuses on a thought-provoking exploration regarding current research on women's lives. This essay will focus, in large part, on my overall experience and understanding of this course, and how it has transformed my life as a whole. Learning Gender Similarities As a result, this course provides a handful of analyzes on the topic of women. One of the main issues that amazed me about this course is the similarity and resemblance between women and men. We are more similar than different. Without a doubt, there are some differences between men and women; however, there are alarming studies in the field of psychology that reveal evidence of such stereotypes and biases on these observations (Matlin, 2008, p.37). This course examines a variety of topics as they relate to similarities between men and women, in particular, gender role stereotypes, social constructionism, and the exploration of women and men from early historical times to the present (Matlin, 2008, p. 41 ). Before enrolling in this course, my expectations were that men and women were completely different, mainly because culture assigns gender to specific groups according to the social constructionist perspective. Being the single girl and the youngest in my family, my expectations of achieving goals have always been limited, taking into account social identities related to intersectionality. Having said that, this course has... middle of the paper... going into this course for the first time, my analysis on females and males was that we are completely different depending on biological factors, cultural factors and social views. Right now, my opinion about females and males is that we are completely similar. Psychological perspectives on social and personality characteristics, on women and work, on cognitive abilities and attitudes present a convincing explanation for the comparison between women and men. Also, learning about the psychology of women opens my mind to questions and answers later. Taking this course has broadened my understanding of my identity and role as a woman. Likewise, women's psychology has helped revolutionize and transform women's lives by giving us a sense of empowerment and inspiration to fulfill our needs and aspirations..
