It set me apart from all my classmates. As a student in high school, I started taking on more and more leadership roles. Going to college definitely opened more doors for my potential career. The summer after my freshman year of college, I was given the opportunity to work as a pharmacy assistant at New York Methodist Hospital. In contact with both the pharmacist and the pharmacy technicians, I was able to gain valuable first-hand experience and knowledge of medications and policies. My primary role in the pharmacy was to fill medications under the supervision of pharmacy technicians and fill code trays while simultaneously checking for expired medications. These skills influenced attitudes towards academia as I learned the importance of detail and triple checking. Because as medical professionals, people put their lives in your hands and this responsibility should not be taken lightly. These skills I have acquired not only allow me to excel in my career goals but also personal goals
