The storm phase usually occurred a few weeks into the season. This phase was characterized by conflict over who was in control and infighting over status positions and the coach's attention. During this time, many athletes with a poor work ethic and/or bad attitude emerged; the conflict between personalities and goals never became apparent due to the team's history. The coaches identified conflicts but resolved them easily due to the nature of the team. Not many athletes from this group were eliminated because they had held the same goal for several years before the season. The objectives of this phase have been oriented and implemented. Was this period the calm after the storm? During this period, after the assault, the team reached a consensus on what was acceptable and what was not. Goals, objectives and expectations had been clearly defined by the coach and athletes. Respect was garnished by those who made the team and captains were appointed by the most vigilant workers, the most committed athletes and the most coachable.
