According to the company's beliefs, an organization's most valuable resource is its employees. This is such a simple, yet often misunderstood statement. However, contrary to popular belief and given the changing dynamics of the modern workplace, it is not surprising that employees have less influence in a company's decision-making processes. It should be borne in mind that employees constitute a fundamental link of any business and should subsequently be given the opportunity to develop. The essence of creating a business is "the bottom line", or in simplistic terms, making a profit. As the 1976 Nobel Prize winner for economics, Milton Friedman, once said: “The social responsibility of business is to increase its profits.” (Friedman). While many may blatantly disagree with this statement, there is an element of truth: There is substantial evidence in the operations of most companies. However, given the changing ideals of the modern marketplace, there is a growing belief that companies have a separate but equal responsibility towards their stakeholders, more specifically towards their employees in this context. “The chance to grow” or “opportunity” comes in many different ways. shapes. Within the modern workplace, there are various opportunities for employees to thrive in a supportive environment. These opportunities range from employee learning opportunities to career development (which includes training and mentorship), each of which holds unique benefits for both employers and employees. Employers should continually look for effective ways to improve overall employee morale, which also results in increased production and subsequently, increased profits. Based on the above analysis, it can be clearly concluded that several factors are of great importance in finding beneficial opportunities for employees. Employees form the core (backbone) of an organization. Ultimately, employers and employees should work collaboratively to create the best work environment possible, for the success of both employees and the organization as a whole.
