Although disastrous events may still have occurred, I do not believe it would have been “calamic.” The Hundred Years War played a huge role, the war lasted a very long time, causing a lot of damage, disruption to daily life and upheaval for society as a whole. The Little Ice Age was a complete disaster, simply because people couldn't eat. Given that these events occurred around the same time, I'm sure European citizens feared whatever might happen next. The biggest factor and influence that made the 14th century so disastrous was the bubonic plague because half of the continent's population died and no one could figure out why. This has caused many problems socially, economically and politically. I believe that every event follows a hasty trend that at the end of the century gives it the perfect nickname of calamitous. The 14th century was a disaster simply due to a combination of multiple tragic and catastrophic events that took many lives, overcame disease, caused starvation, started wars and ended
