No matter where you go, bullying is just around the corner. There is no certain age for someone to become a bully. The movies make high school the most prominent place where bullies can arise; but in the real world this is not the case. Bullying is a serious problem and can happen anywhere, anytime to anyone. Bullying within an elementary school begins on the first day of school. By the end of kindergarten, more than 20% of students report having been a victim of bullying during that year. By the end of elementary school, 9 out of 10 students report having been bullied at some point. Students who engage in bullying during elementary school are more likely to carry it forward into the middle school and high school years. Aggressive and violent behavior toward elementary school students not only continues after they graduate from high school, but they end up with criminal records. While peer bullying can occur anywhere within the school, elementary school students report being less safe on the playground.
