Slaughter. Torture. Neglected. Hunger. Every day innocent animals face these consequences because of us. Animals can show us more love and affection than we humans can. Animals are not only subject to animal testing, fur farming, breeding, factory farming, dog fighting, but also to many other purposes. Animal cruelty perfectly embodies the fact that animals can show more compassion and respect towards others. A dog, otherwise known as “man's best friend”, always has this thing called a collar, choked on its neck. So does this mean that in return we too have to wear a collar, be pulled in the direction the dog wants to go, never having the chance to go where we want, do what we want? A young orca forcibly separated from her mother to be enslaved and forced to perform in water parks forever. Not only that, they are locked in these small cages and have to spend endless hours huddled in that narrow space. The pool they swim in is much smaller than the one they could swim in if they were free, in nature. Is it fair to them that, for our satisfaction and pleasure, these animals are deprived of their perfect life? As Christine Stevens had said, “The basis of all animal rights should be the golden rule: we should treat them as we would want them to treat us, if any other species were in our dominant position.” As of 2010, 1.28 million animals are used in experiments, and that number excludes rats and mice. Approximately 100 million rats and mice are used in experiments, and these numbers correspond only to experiments conducted in the United States. 2009 Canada, 3.38 million animals used in experiments. 145,632 animals were subjected to severe pain near, at, or above pain tolerance. The pain endured was so great that many......middle of paper......do it. But they are helpless victims and cannot do much to stop the abuse. These poor animals endure so much loneliness, torture and suffering. The result of this abuse would lead the animals to be shy, depressed or even aggressive. Since they can't do much about it, the only ones who can make a change are us. And what we can do is support your local shelter, never doubt animal abuse, contact an agency when you suspect animal cruelty, and donate to your local shelter. But above all, treat your pets with love. That's all they ask for. As James Herriot had said, "I hope to make people understand how utterly helpless animals are, how dependent on us, trusting like a child that we will be kind and take care of their needs... [They] are an imposed obligation." . upon us, a responsibility that we have no right to neglect, nor to violate with cruelty.”
