The metric system is the most common measurement system and almost all countries use it except one, America. People who needed an easier way to measure things invented this measurement system a long time ago. As the metric system spread to all countries, Britain used customary units of measurement to measure things. When the English began to colonize America, the customary system moved with them. Eventually, when Great Britain decided to switch to the metric system, the new democratic America established its measurement system as usual, while almost all other countries measured in the metric system. America should move to the metric system because it will promote more jobs in America, increase relations with other countries, and is easier to understand and apply. Changing from the customary system to the metric system will significantly reduce the unemployment rate and promote more jobs in America. America. The most important jobs needed are those that will remake and sell new and correct products to customers. There are many products that have customary measurements such as rulers, textbooks, and street signs, so if this country switches to the metric system, the demand for these products will increase and companies will hire more workers to meet the demand. Many people in America are homeless and jobless, so switching to the metric system will help find them the jobs they need to make money because the many jobs that will be provided may be as simple for many poorly educated people as hanging a sign road. As a result of decreasing unemployment, many people will move from living on the streets to working in paid employment and providing for their own needs. Today, not many countries have strong relations with America, and the metric system will help bring a co...... middle of paper...... measurement. They won't want the hassle of remembering two different measurements in their lifetime. Americans are not very stubborn and are quite willing to switch to a simpler measurement system. In conclusion, the United States should change its measurement system to metric because many people would find it easier for themselves and their society. America should move to the metric system because it would promote more jobs in America, increase relations with other countries, and is easier to understand and apply. There are many reasons why America should switch to the metric system, and in the future Americans will likely say the word meter without knowing that they would first say the word foot.
