Topic > The negative effects of the media on society - 1020

Children are exposed to the negative effects of the media every day. Shows like Bad Girls' Club and Real World serve as poor role models for young people. There are many steps parents and guardians can take to reduce or completely eliminate the flu. Parents and guardians should provide children with adequate supervision, plenty of play and education to protect them from the negative effects of the media. A very effective way to keep children away from the negative influences of the media is to supervise them properly. Overly excessive interaction with violent movies, music, and video games can affect a child's behavior. Becoming media literate can help you gain control. Parents should know what kind of media children are interested in and should prevent them from watching inappropriate material, and all programs should be age-appropriate. Most television shows and movies announce age preferences at the beginning of the program. Parents should be aware and strictly limit their children, also “limit children's total media time (with entertainment media) to no more than 1 to 2 hours of quality programming per day” (Shelov and Bar- on, par. 9). Children who watch a lot of television may end up doing poorly in school. This should give them time to do more productive activities in their free time. Health care providers should pay particular attention to the shows that school-age children watch. They should only approve programs that are “informative, educational, and nonviolent” (Shelov and Bar-on, para. 9). Health workers should watch television programs together with young people. Furthermore, they should discuss the content of a program with children. (Shelov and Bar-on, para. 9). I remember growing up in my grandparents' house, where we spent quality time together, among sheets of paper ("Achieve a Balance, 32). Although my teammates and I disagreed on many things, the game taught us to come together and discuss it until we reach an agreement. “By offering children a way to expend their energy, sports can be a vehicle for achieving peace” (“Achieve a Balance,” 32). steps can help parents, guardians and all other caregivers bring peace and serenity to the child's life. All the wrong television programs, music and video games can be irreparably harmful. Music from artists like Gucci Mane and Wocka Flocka can teach your child that bad habits like smoking marijuana can be acceptable. Video games like Grand Theft Auto and Saints Row can teach your child that he can get away with any crime and that gang violence is acceptable. Starting your child with healthy activities early can benefit you and your child in the future.
