The tributes are the people who live in the districts. The tributes in the Hunger Games are all the same. They kill each other and become the puppets of the Capitol. The tributes become violent, emotionless puppets. Then there's Katniss. Katniss is an excellent hunter and becomes deadly throughout the games. However, he has not lost his compassion. Katniss doesn't consider herself a good person. When in reality she is a good person with a big heart, who puts others before herself. Katniss does many things that others wouldn't do in her situation. Whether it's helping his family or helping others. Katniss' father died in a mining accident when she was eleven (5). Katniss' mother didn't handle this well. He stopped taking care of his family. She became a zombie. Katniss had to start taking care of her family (age 26, 27). One day Katniss understood everything. Katniss thought, “The first dandelion of the year. A bell rang in my head. I thought about the hours I spent in the woods with my father and knew how we would survive” (32). This is the moment Katniss realizes that her family will never starve again. Katniss knew that hunting in District 12 is illegal and the penalty could be death (5). Katniss risks her life. Katniss's only concern is her family, no matter the danger. The harvest occurs when one male and one female tribute are chosen from each district. When the day of the harvest arrives, a surprise gift is chosen. Who is the little sister of Prim Katnis (20). Prim's name was only entered once (21). Katniss can't understand what happened. His chances were very slim. Katn... middle of paper... almost doesn't know. Katniss is a good person at heart. Katniss may have hunter instincts; kill anything or anyone who tries to harm the people he cares about. Katniss would risk her life for them. Even in the games, Katniss wouldn't kill the one person who stood in her way of victory. Katniss shows what matters is compassion and her humanity. Katniss proves to be more than unique in their games (232). Katniss remembers what Peeta said on the roof. Peeta said, "I don't want them to change me in there." Make me into some kind of monster that I am not” (141). Katniss doesn't want to get lost, which she never does. Katniss proves herself to be a good person by forming alliances and caring for other tributes. Katniss doesn't think she's good but she really is even if she can't see it. Works CitedCollins, S.
