I really don't think anything can stop me from pursuing my dream of earning a college degree. This has been my dream for many years and is an opportunity that I treasure with all my heart. Before immigrating to the United States, I believed that my dream of earning a college degree would never come true due to my country's education system, my family's cultural beliefs, and financial limitations. I come from a traditional Chinese family whose belief in girls achieving higher education goes beyond the norm. The kids are considered the treasure of the family and, therefore, they are the ones who are supported in their dreams of higher education. During my studies at Wake Tech Community College, I was excited about the classes I was able to take and am enjoying the knowledge I gained and how it opened my mind. I often reflect on how privileged I am as a new immigrant that, at my age, I can sit in the same classroom with other students much younger than me who enjoy the same knowledge. I truly appreciate this country and its wonderful education system and feel that nothing can stop it
