2.0 PROGRAM MONITORING AND REVIEW2.1 IntroductionIn essence, program monitoring and review processes in relation to modules and programs are "self-reflective and self-critical processes" regarding performance and effectiveness of the modules and program under consideration. These processes are therefore essentially of an evolutionary and training nature, in order to determine further improvement actions (Southampton Uni doc) and systematically update them in order to maintain their coherence (teqsa). Program monitoring and review are linked processes, as seen in Diagram 1.Diagram 1: Monitoring and Review ProcessDiagram 1 shows that various sources of information such as examiner and benchmark reports, student performance; Student evaluation of teaching, feedback from alumni and industry, changes in policy are collected to monitor the module. These are analyzed to identify the strengths and weaknesses of the module and areas that need change and improvement. Monitoring is carried out by the module coordinator together with the module team. The monitoring results feed into the annual program monitoring process and, ultimately, into the periodic program review. Annual program monitoring focuses on maintaining the quality of students' educational experience and improving the delivery system. As explained in section XXX, the periodic program review is carried out less frequently than the annual module and program monitoring and is comprehensive in terms of scope, objectives and processes. Table XXX below outlines the main features of module monitoring, annual program monitoring and periodic program review. .Table 1: Overview of module monitoring, program monitoring... halfway through the document ......internal subject review: a review team composed of internal and external reviewers, including student members. A general university mandate for all reviews based on the key themes and areas covered in the Quality Assurance Agency's improvement-led institutional review: managing the student learning experience managing quality and standards managing improvement and promotion of good practice A subject-specific mandate containing elements of particular interest to the area being reviewed, requesting comments and guidance from the review team. A report containing recommendations for action and praise of good practice. Follow-up the action's progress through the annual quality assurance reporting process. Publication of review reports and responses to the topic area on the University website. Dissemination of good practices also in other disciplinary fields.
