Topic > Similarities between individualism and materialism

This passage refers to the parable of the rich man because Jesus is talking about not worrying about worldly things and relying on God. Materialism is an inevitable consequence of atheism and leads to one side to the elevation of things and on the other to the depreciation of people. Materialism is an attempt to find meaning in a universe deprived of its Creator. Money is the basis of materialism. Materialism will produce the type of society increasingly evident in America; it would be an individualistic society, where people live parallel lives. A society where independence is the only absolute and where self-interest is the only creed. A society where people know the price of everything, but the value of nothing. While God created us to love people and use things, the materialist loves things and uses people. Genesis 4:2-7 We must give to the Lord the best we have even though it may not be as good as other people around us. Genesis 14:20 Abraham tithed all he had and gave it to the Lord. Genesis 28:22 A tithe is a tenth of all you have. Numbers 18:24-29 God was speaking to Moses to speak to another tribe because they were not giving what they needed
