IntroductionThe disciples of Jesus Christ were faithful in recording the words and deeds of the Lord. Through His actions and character, Jesus Christ has influenced history. Jesus Christ was crucified, died, and resurrected, which changed the history of the world as we know it. He told his disciples that he would die and that on the third day he would rise again. Jesus died to pay the world's sin debt. The Lord led a sinless life, but he was the one who took on the sins of the world. There is no other person who has had as great an impact on history as Jesus Christ. The apostle Paul, who once rejected Jesus Christ, later became one of the greatest men of God. In the history of the Christian church, he was the most significant missionary. He was faithful to the Lord and preached Jesus Christ and His crucifixion. Paul was a dedicated missionary and taught the gospel wherever he visited. This character study will focus on Paul's life as a missionary and how he changed the course of world history. Lesson One: Paul's Background I would like to welcome everyone to the Men's Huddle Bible Study. Over the next few weeks we will study the life of the apostle Paul with particular attention to missions. In a few months, our church will dedicate an entire month to the missions focus. These lessons will help prepare you for the missionary month. The Scriptures will be read primarily from the book of Acts because its focus is on missions. The apostle Paul went on three missionary journeys, and we will take a look at each one and expound the Scriptures. This week's focus is on the life of the apostle Paul up until his conversion. The title of my lesson is simply “Paolo's background”. The lessons to come will focus on each of Paul's missionaries j...... middle of paper ......expected by all the people, he stood up in Council and gave orders to put the men out for a short time .” Gamaliel was a Pharisee and Paul, who learned under him, was also a Pharisee. The Pharisees were a group of people who strictly adhered to the Old Testament law according to their own interpretation. The Pharisees believed in the resurrection while the Sadducees did not. In the account of Acts chapter 5, the apostles were put in prison for spreading the gospel message of Jesus Christ and Him crucified along with the healing of the sick. Gamaliel told the council that had tried the Apostles to leave them alone. If God wanted this to happen, no one could stop them. This, of course, was not Paul's sentiment. This is where he differed from Gamaliel. Next week we will take a look at why Paul persecuted the church and how he came to know the Lord.
