Primary school is where most people learn to interact with peers outside of their families. It's also where you learn how to follow leaders and the guidance they provide. Without the basics of reading, math, and problem solving, you would not succeed in higher grades. The difficulty of catching up may discourage you from trying. This can cause you to drop out or not even attempt to continue on to college. The result could limit your job options and ability to make money, which leads to the second function, economic outcomes. The more education you have, the better your chances of finding your dream job. Not only with higher pay, but with fewer physical demands, greater likelihood of a leadership position, and better overall working conditions that can lead to better health with longer life expectancy (Department of Sociology, University of New York, 2013). I was fortunate to have teachers in my elementary school who were dedicated to teaching. They explained to us what going to college would mean and encouraged us by teaching college prep classes in fifth grade. We had a career week where alumni from our school arrived
