Every individual has prejudices and stereotypes that they project onto others (Asplund & Welle, 2018). In most cases, people give up the need to project prejudices and stereotypes in an effort to be humble and develop relationships. However, some do not possess the level of self-control necessary to curb their prejudices and stereotypes. It is from this lack of self-control and open-mindedness that male-dominated cultures develop, like the one Alexis experienced at the oil company.
