My biggest problems were language, a pool of confidence due to gender issues. My first problem was my language, because my mother tongue is Urdu. I had not spoken proper English in my life before coming to the United States. I listened well but on the other hand I didn't speak English. I always felt shy whenever I wanted to speak English. I always felt reluctant to talk to anyone because of my poor English. I remember that time I had to make an appointment with my doctor. I was very nervous at that moment. I didn't know how to explain my problem to the receptionist. Then I ask my brother to make an appointment on my behalf. I always went to my doctor with someone who could explain my problems to him. It was so embarrassing for me. I was so tired of asking someone to speak for me and one day I decided that I would continue my studies and learn English. So I joined ACCC in 2017 to learn English. After that, I changed a lot. My second problem was gender issues. I was always a shy person when I came to the United States. Sometimes I cried and asked my parents: why did you bring me here? I am from Pakistan and grew up in a different culture. In my culture girls don't talk to boys except their family. In my culture, most people didn't like strange interactions between men and women. I was studying in high school when I came here. I had always studied at girls' school while I was in Pakistan. In my country, many people didn't like coeducation. When I got here I barely tried to communicate with males. I tried so hard and after a few times I got used to it. While studying at ACCC, I talked to male classmates who were from different cultures. While studying at ACCC, I encountered many male students in my ESL classes. At first I felt shy. I had to interact with them for class work, but after a while I got used to it. I made a lot of male friends there. I can't believe how this happened. But life goes on, no matter what. Now I feel comfortable talking to males. Now gender is no longer an issue for me. In fact, I believe that nothing is permanent and nothing is impossible. Please note: this is just an example. Get a custom paper from our expert writers now.
